Summary:
San Diego Gas and Electric (SDGE) offers incentive programs for businesses looking to improve their energy efficiency. In addition to technical advice, SDGE Business Efficiency Program has prescriptive and custom rebates for eligible customers.

The Express Efficiency Program gives rebates for retrofit, pre-approved improvements to business, industrial and agricultural customers that have a monthly electrical demand of at least 100 kilowatts or 4,166 therms. Rebates are available for lighting improvements, refrigeration, natural gas technologies, food service or other improvements. A commercial or agricultural customer is limited to $350,000 in Express Efficiency Rebates per year and per energy source. More information and the application can be found at the program website.

In addition, SDGE offers the Small Business Super Saver Program, a prescriptive efficiency rebate program for small business owners. Rebates for lighting, food service, refrigeration and other technologies are available. Only retrofit projects qualify and business customers must demand less than 100 kilowatts or 4,166 therms per month. More information and program forms can be found at the program website.

The Standard Performance Contracting Program offers incentives for improvements that exceed government energy standards for business, industrial and agricultural customers, regardless of size. Funding for conservation improvements is up to $350,000 or 50% of the total project costs and the incentives are based on the amount of direct energy saved. Currently, funding for this program is guaranteed through 2006. More information about the specific incentive amounts and an application can be found at the program website.

The Energy Savings Bid Program offers non-residential users the opportunity to design a high-efficiency retrofit improvement for their facility and propose an incentive amount from SDGE. Electric projects should save at least 500,000 kilowatts annually, and natural gas projects should save at least 25,000 therms annually. Possible incentive amounts and applications are available on the program website.
